A very intelligent and very pregnant woman in her mid-thirties told me that many of her friends would like to have more children, and to stay at home (for a while) with their young children.

But, she said, they couldn't afford it.

But these were (typically) women living in gentrified downtown areas.

You can't have it all.

Life is about choices.

Those women could move out to bigger homes in the less expensive outer suburbs.

The commuting time is longer. But so much can be done electronically these days.
