That's my team ...

WASHINGTON -- Outfielder Austin Kearns' two-run double in the eighth inning helped the Nationals come back from a two-run deficit to defeat the Diamondbacks, 5-3, and sweep the three-game series in front of 30,771 fans at RFK Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The victory marked the fourth straight game in which Washington came back from two or more runs down after seven innings. The last team to accomplish the same feat was the 1923 New York Giants. They won their four straight from June 25-28 of that year against the Philadelphia Phillies (two games) and Boston Braves (two games).

"Don't ever give up. As long as you have an out left, you have a chance to win a ballgame," said manager Frank Robinson. "That's a good lesson for a ballclub with a lot of young players on it. If you just keep battling, good things can happen to you."

For seven innings, it appeared the Nationals were no match for Arizona right-hander Brandon Webb...

+ + +

Now that is good lesson for life. Keep going even when you're behind after seven inning.

Never give in. Never give up. Never say die.

Never, ever.

PS: The calculations could never, ever, have been made without a vast computer data base and someone who can use it.

That's the good news.

I guess.
