I think you have this reversed: there are more boys born than girls. The ratio varies somewhat geographically, often substantially due to artficial things like sex selection or even female infanticide (e.g. India and China), but for natural births boys outnumber girls (as far as I know). Various reasons are hypothesized/postulated for this.
