Froomkin --- Stop Doomkin us...

Click here: Dan Froomkin - President Who? - washingtonpost.com

First, 39% is not so bad...

Second, Bush isn't on the ballot...

Third, the idea is to pull out the activist base,

Fourth, people care more about low gas prices, the rising value of theeir 401Ks, a solid economy --- than about a scandal.

There have been political scandals --- from the very beginning of this splendid repulic.

Fifth, voters like optimism, not gloom-and-dooming.

Gas prices are not "low." They may be lower than they were three months ago, but we've got a long way to go till we hit $1.25 a gallon. It's still nearly twice that in DC.

voters may like optimism, but the GOP had better start giving them a reason to be optimistic, and soon. If Dennis Hastert is forced to resign (and even if he isn't), I don't see voters feeling very confident about the GOP. Pathetic.
