Hurray for the Washington Nationals!

As mentioned, I have had a love-hate relationship with baseball over the years. I'm in love again --- with the new Washington Nationals. The deadline for trades has just passed. The sports scribes (that how we ex-sports-writers talk) mostly thought that the 'Nats would trade their star left-fielder Alphonso Soriano for younger players. They didn't. Sorianio may be the first man to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a year. His teamates love his work ethic and his leadership qulaties.
Soriano may still leave --- of his own volition --- after the season. But I doubt it. He says he's in love with the fans and the city. And Washington is indeed a most remarkable city.
But the Lerner family --- the new owners --- have shown the fans that their voices will be heard.
You can't buy that kind of loyalty.
