The American Enterprise Institute

Since 1978 I have been a "Senior Fellow" at The American Enterprise Institute in Washington DC. "Senior at age 45!) It has had it's problems. It almost went bankrupt --- not a good thing for a place that believes in "free markets." There have been tensions this way and that, as there are in any organization of human beings. But I believe it has become the most important institution of it's kind --- anywhere. Foreign leaders want to stop by and make their case. Presidents and Vice Presidents, Members of Congress and Supreme Court Justices appear.
For me --- essentially an auto-didact --- it has provided an unbelievable education --- worth more than a fistful of PhDs or post-docs.
