The American Musical Comedy

It's said to be an original American art form. I agree. I saw many of them on Broadway as a young man, often in the second balcony, for a cost of under $2 a ticket.

Who can forget "Guys and Dolls" --- and "Nathan Detroit" Marlon Brando played the lead in the movie. "I got the horse right right here, his name is Paul Revere." I think part of it is modelled on a Bach fugue.

Or "My Fair Lady"

Or "Oklahoma" ---where "the corn is as as high as an elephant's eye"

Or "Officer Krupke's" truths about welfare "'Our mothers are all junkies, our fathers are all drunks. ...

Refresh my memory.

Ben
