Sadness and Lamenting in Sierra Leone...
One of the men who works as a concierge in my building hails from Sierra Leone, a troubled nation in a troubled part fo the world.
He is educated, continuing his education, and is on his way to becoming a U.S. Citizen.
His 8-year old niece is suffering from a rare eye disease (not "river blidness") that threatens to blind her.
He is trying quite desperately to get her to the United States where a Dr. Lieberman, an opthamological surgeon in the DC area, believes he can cure her if he can treat her in time.
She is not asking for charity.
The U.S. Government --- our government --- is moving very, very, very slowly --- if at all.
This an outrage.
Any ideas?
Ben
