I know, intuitively, that the U.S. is not "losing its edge."
We have the largest, wealthiest market in the world, the most innovative scientists, the best colleges and universities, the movies and TV programs that are watched everywhere.
Demographically, we are growing while all the other "modern" nations are shriveling.
If a blockbuster drug that cures a form of cancer is discovered in Japan, Russia, the UK, Switzerland, China --- wherever ---we can pay a royalty and use it.
Other countries do indeed give subsidies to their business, and gain creeping control over them --- see earlier post re Airbus v. Boeing. When they do do that they are giving us money.
Businesses --- small and large ---thrive when they compete. The process, called Creative Destruction by Josph Schumpeter, can be harsh but has demonstrably yielded the highest standard of living , ever.

Here by modern don't you mean developed? Why are these nations developed and others not?
Yes, the US is pretty much alone among industrialized nations in having one of the fastest population growth rates in the world -- faster than even many third world countries. Is that really a good thing? What about carrying capacity? Sprawl and quality of life in urban areas?
And contrary to what you imply, this is doing serious and irreversible demographic damage to the US. Don't you think it matters who is causing most of the population increase, rather than just that the population is increasing? As a matter of statistical fact, most of US population growth is due to Hispanics, who are, on average, 1) significantly more likely to be criminal, and 2) significantly less likely to succeed academically, meaning graduate from high school and go on to attend and graduate from college. And there is absolutely no evidence that this discrepancy ever narrows meaningfully.
You are free to verify these facts yourself; in a later post you rightfully say the internet fills a need for 'information at your fingertips', so use it.
And then answer the question: In an increasingly competitive climate of economic globalism, how can the current demographic trend -- i.e. population growth primarily via immigration of the uneducated and underachieving -- possibly be to the long-term benefit of America?
Please explain this using a logical, coherent, and convincing fact-based argument. And not folksy platitudes, as you have done in the past.
Thanks in advance.
