But we opened up this vast sub-continental nation in some large measure with subsidies: Canals, railroads, locks and dams, land grants, land grant colleges, electricity generation (the TVA) and more.
There are legitimate uses for the public monies.
Libertarians who say "taxation is theft" do not understand how the world works.

The author of this NEW YORK TIMES article did not seem very supportive of subsidizing airplane flights with only three passengers on them. And you are saying it's legitimate? I can't believe the New York Times is more free-market than Ben Wattenberg.
