As with so many other American cities, Wonderful Washington is gentrifying. The adults, straight and gay, stay in the city. So many folks with children move to the nearby suburbs, where there is more space, and prices are less expensive.
The only good news I have seen regarding the birth dearth is that in some far-out suburbs, like Loudon VA, birth and fertility rates are going up.
