The news business --- more

I wonder how historians in the future will judge our time. Of course they could check out the transcript and tapes at thinktank@nrmedia.com .

But with all the mis-leading, mis-directed and mis-emphasized material going out on our air and in our newspapers --- they should try look at advertising.

Consumer advertising may be equally mis-leading or more so.

But I think the trade press is often quite accurate. If General Motors (in the old days at least) was advertising Diesel engines for it's Detroit Diesel division, the spekks had better be right, or the towboats couldn't push the lashed-together barges {sometimes a mile long (!)} up-river. And there would be hell to pay...
