My dear Mr./Mrs/Ms. A.

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Liberal Ben opposes this ...":

Demographically, we are growing while all the other "modern" nations are shriveling.

Here by modern don't you mean developed? Because the UN says they are developed
Why are these nations developed and others not? Ditto. There are some anomalies. But the UN is even more rigid than most bureaucracies.

Yes, the US is pretty much alone among industrialized nations in having one of the fastest population growth rates in the world -- faster than even many third world countries. Is that really a good thing? What about carrying capacity? Sprawl and quality of life in urban areas?
I believe that the state of Texas could house every person on earth with an acre each, and provide them a fine and improving life styles. There are many reasons that a reasonably populous earth is better than one with a geometrically ever-diminishing population, as is now the case. It will stop. But when?

Among those reasons are: 1) the loss of an economy of scale. which provides less expensive goods, and 2) the diminishment of the "genius pool" i.e. fewer researchers to seach for cures for cancers etc.

And contrary to what you imply, this is doing serious and irreversible demographic damage to the US. Don't you think it matters who is causing most of the population increase, rather than just that the population is increasing? As a matter of statistical fact, most of US population growth is due to Hispanics, who are, on average, 1) significantly more likely to be criminal, Wrong: Only in the first generation and then they tend to mimic the entire population which has plenty of crime. African Americans of slave descent have the highest rates. Italians and Jews had plenty when they were newcomers --- Lepke, Bugsy, The Mafia etc. 2) significantly less likely to succeed academically, meaning graduate from high school and go on to attend and graduate from college. And there is absolutely no evidence that this discrepancy ever narrows meaningfully.
That is just plain wrong.

You are free to verify these facts yourself; in a later post you rightfully say the internet fills a need for 'information at your fingertips', so use it.
Ah, if I could I wouldn't be a technophobe. I'm getting better at it. I love this blog, but is not easy for a 73-year old man to operate.

And then answer the question: In an increasingly competitive climate of economic globalism, how can the current demographic trend -- i.e. population growth primarily via immigration of the uneducated and underachieving -- possibly be to the long-term benefit of America? That is what they said about the Jews and the Chinese, and the Japanese --- and then they started winning Nobel Prizes. Don't get me started on the immigrant contribution to athletics.

Please explain this using a logical, coherent, and convincing fact-based argument. And not folksy platitudes, as you have done in the past.

Platitudes, aphorisms, cliche's are platitudes, aphorisms, cliche's (the good ones) because they convey in clear and pungent language just what the users intends to express: Knock it off, right on, screw you, I could care less, atta-boy etc.

Thanks in advance.

You are welcome. If you are so smart why do you hide behind a mask of annonymity.

And stop moderating comments -- you can always delete offensive or inappropriate comments later.

Technophobia. See above.

I don't think so; here you can read some statistics about it, e.g. that only 11% of third generation Hispanics manage to graduate from college.

This report on Hispanics has more statistics on education and crime for Hispanics.

What about the data concerning Hispanic criminality and lack of academic achievement that I provided?
