Of course we should not invest money in nations who sponsor those who wish to kill us.

The Jackson-Vanik Act re-introduced morality as an aspect of U.S. foreign policy.

Ostensibly designed to help Soviet Jews escape from the big Red jail, it has, as St. Scoop intended, changed American foreign policy around the world.

Practioners of real'-politic snicker at the notion of blending liberty and human rights with practicality.

But from our earliest days when John Winthrop (16XX) preached that the new colonies would a "light unto the nations" --- most Americans have (sometimes sub-concsiously) have believed that we have some very worthwhile views and values to non-coercively purvey.

He was right then. We are right now.
