Washington DC

It's (there's Mr. 'It's' again) said that Washington DC is a very parochial city and that people who live "Inside the Beltway" are out of touch. Wrong, I think. In it's way DC is the most representative city in America.

There are something like 7,000 trade associations representing their members. There are 535 members and a President and Vice President representing constituencies. The National Institutes of Health gets in grant requests from all over the world, assess them, and send out grant money. The Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Fed track the economy.

Great universities have grown up using this pool of talent. UVA has long been top tier. But George Mason, Georgetown, the University of Maryland, AU and Catholic are all climbing the up the charts.

I think it's the capitol of the universe.

Best,
Ben
