Sacrifice...

The wolves are out, going after President Dubya. One of their stupidist notions is that we screwed up by not asking Americans to sacrifice --- the way we did in WWII.

That's right up their with the dumbest statement ever uttered (Gloria Steinem's "A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle.")

We sacrificed in WWII because we were short of rubber, short of whatever it was that made munitions, short of food. We had ration-cards and grew "victory gardens."

But imagine the scandal it would be if the rationing was artificial --- just suffering for it's own sake.
