Patriotism

Examining cross-national public opinion surveys shows that American are the "patriotic" people. (The three Axis Powers of WWII --- Germany, Japan and Italy --- have been dead last.)
My mentor Richard M. Scammon believed that it was the hidden item in public opinion polls. I wonder how this all plays out vis a vis the Iraq war. I don't think many people would buy into the "cut and run" idea, notwithstanding the grim news. We shall see.
