Israel --- again
The Israeli cabinet has voted to go further into Lebanon. I support that.
But the idea that a terrorist threat can be "eliminated" is wrong.
The Secret Servicemen on LBJ's staff --- trained to take a slug for the President --- told me that if a person is willing to give up his own life wants to take a shot as the President there is not a whole lot they can do.
So too vis a vis Israel. Alas, it will go on.
Probably in America, too. The wonder of it all is that we have had no further attacks since 9/11.
If jihadists rolled hand grenades into ten outdoor restaurants, the country would go ballistic --- and then rebound.
Ours is a strange species: glorious and cruel.
