Not cruelty --- demography
There is so much apparent killing on in the world today. It is tragic. Compounding it is that people everywhere are having so many fewer children --- the closest link we have to immortality.
BTW the last two Presidents --- Bush and Clinton --- had a total of three children. That's 1.5 per woman (demographers measure women, because woman are sure when they have borne a child, not so with men
