In the early 1960s, a man who was then seventy, told me that "we've been running out of oil since I was a boy."
Factoid: The much-maligned Vice-President, Dick Cheney, --- when he ran Halliburton and its subsidiary Dresser Industries --- was instrumental in pushing forward the development of new oil sources in a green way: offshore, slant drilling, Arctic --- mostly where people do not live.
He deserves credit for this, but rarely gets it.

The way I understand it, the problems with oil arise not from its collection, but rather its consumption.
