"ic"

The Republicans, some of whom I have much sympathy with these days, think they score points by calling their adversaries the "Democrat" party instead of the "Democratic Party." I wrote column about it some years ago. I see that Hendrik Hertzberg writes about it in the current edition of The New Yorker. It's a strange way to "win friends and influence people", the title of an immensely popular by Dale Carneigie many years ago.
